ZocDoc is recommended to help patients book online appointments with medical providers. Users can view a doctor's availability, instantly book appointments online, compare verified user reviews, receive tailored health reminders, and more. The number of doctors registered with ZocDoc is still small, depending on location.

Ease of Use

One of the most user-friendly appointment-setting tools available. Search results are listed with a photo of the doctor, star rating, and contact information. One great feature allows the user to view the next available appointment and book online. Users can toggle between "Overview" which contains extensive provider profile information, and "Patient reviews," where only patient reviews are displayed. A great user-experience.

Visual Design

ZocDoc features an impressive visual design with bright images and colors that draw visitors in. A prominent search bar leads users directly to the website's main function. Profile pages for doctors are interesting but perhaps too chaotic, with dozens of star ratings that distract the reader's eye.

The website's content is mostly user-reviewes of different medical professionals. Only a small number of doctors are accessible from this site, and results may not be relevant in rural or suburban areas. The reviews themselves are often thorough and account for several important quality measures, but the quality of reviews varies. The website helpfully points out which reviewers are "verified" patients.

To join Zocdoc, doctors must be nationally licensed and be in good standing with their state medical boards. Very little information is provided for the website's owners. Reviews are written by patients and aren't always helpful, but several different quality measures are looked at and can be very good at times.

  1. Good for finding a ZocDoc provider quickly and booking an appointment online
  2. Allows visitors to view the next available appointment and book online by entering insurance plan and reason for the visit along
  3. Visitors can learn about a doctor's education, accepted insurances, credentials, patient reviews, and the doctor's own statement

  1. Few providers are listed
  2. Limited membership means available doctors may be a long distance away, especially in suburban and rural areas
  3. No obvious organization to doctor browsing categories
  4. Although education, experience, licensing, and certification information is given, there is no detail of additional screening for ZocDoc doctors
